The Pubjet WordPress plugin (versions 5.4.8 and earlier) is vulnerable to privilege escalation. The checkToken() AJAX handler, registered as wp_ajax_pubjet-check-token, lacks capability checks and nonce verification. This allows authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access to overwrite the plugin's stored REST API credential. By planting an attacker-chosen token, the attacker can authenticate as an authorized Pubjet API client to access restricted endpoints, including createReportage, updateReportage, deleteReportage, toggleCopyright, and createBacklink.
